Eddie Ferncombe was a gang leader, a heroin addict, and a notorious, feared criminal. He wound up in Ireland’s worst prison in maximum security, down in the dungeon. “I wrote to him, and over a period of several weeks of writing, Eddie accepted Jesus. Eddie asked me for some tapes of my services. He wrote to me a few weeks later after receiving them.
“On one of the tapes I had done a mass deliverance. On the tape I had said ‘…silently address those issues in your mind and choose to be set free from them. I bind every demon…’
“Eddie wrote me that he had had a strong physical reaction to this command. He began trembling and sweating and could not sit still. He became so hot that he had to splash water on his face, even though it was the middle of winter and very cold. He said I know I have demons! I told my chaplain about it. The chaplain laughed at me.’ Then Eddie asked me to come to Ireland to help him be set free.
The Journey to Ireland
“I felt God’s Spirit telling me to go, and things fell into place with the arrangements. I went to Port Laoise, Ireland, near Dublin, to one of the darkest, harshest prisons I had ever been in. I met with Eddie. I sat in a private visiting room with him—the shackles were removed as the officers brought him into the room.
“We talked about the doorways that demons could enter. His stronghold was unforgiveness. He could not forgive. I told him, ‘You cannot have any unforgiveness in your life if you want to get rid of demons. I can’t help you unless you forgive.’
“He said, ‘I can’t do that—as soon as I get out of here, I’m going to kill the man who snitched on me. I’m not going to forgive him.’ I said, ‘Then I can’t help you if you won’t forgive.’ I left him to think it over and told him I would be back.
The Power of Forgiveness and Deliverance
“I came back two days later. We were in a super-isolation area. He was escorted by four officers and had waist chains, ankle chains, and handcuffs. But he had a big smile on his face. He said, ‘I did it, Brother Don. I forgave that man.’
“I could see in his eyes that it was real. We went through the process of binding demons and commanding them to leave and they did.”
Eddie was recently interviewed by telephone on the Messianic Vision radio program. He was asked what it was like to be set free of evil spirits.
Eddie replied, “I was on a road to destruction. Inwardly I was in torment. I was very violent and very evil. I was in a very bad place mentally.
“After I went through deliverance, I felt amazing peace. The peace came straight away. After the deliverance all the darkness just lifted and I felt giddy and happy in my spirit. It felt better than being stoned!”
Eddie was in the worst prison of all prisons, hating and just wanting to get out to murder another person. Now he feels the love of God. God is so good. When people are freed from bondage, they feel wonderful.
Mark 11:25 — And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.
