ABORTION (Part 1)

Abortion (Part 1)

24th November, 2022

I was in a church meeting about 21 years ago. As I stood there, a preacher spoke about some armed robbers entering a house and shooting a woman dead (I think she was pregnant).

I began to think, “Why did they kill her? Was she a threat as they might say of a man who fought back, or a man once guilty of murder? Then within me I seemed to hear,

“Hush! Because they are women, you think they never do murderous evil”?

It is easy to point a finger at a gangster, politician, occultic man, slave master, or even a police officer. But what about the pretty young girl who gets rid of an innocent baby to protect her image and reputation? Or the friendly and maternal relative who aborted the last baby she conceived to avoid, again, the responsibilities of parenthood?

Whoever sheds the blood of man. by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in His own image. -Gen. 9:6

If abortion were to be considered a homicide, women in many countries would likely qualify as the gender responsible for the most murders in the last two decades. Looking at statistics for the United States, in the year 2020, 21,570 people died from a homicide but 930,160 babies were aborted; approximately 43 times the amount of people that were murdered!

Behold, children are a gift of the Lord. The fruit of the womb is a reward. – Psalm 127:3

Children in the womb are fully recognized by God and are capable of being destined for things before conception (Jeremiah 1:5). Consider the following: For You formed my inmost being: You knit me together in my mother’s womb. My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body: all my days were written in Your book and ordained for me before one of them came to be. Psalms 139:13, 15-16

A Medical Perspective on Abortion

Some doctors feel like saviours when they remove a child to save the mother’s life with the belief that ‘she can always give birth again’. If there is absolutely no problem with this, there would have been no need for Mary and Joseph to escape Egypt; after all. Mary could always have given birth again. This proves that God definitely does not think like us (Isaiah 55:8-9).

Exo 21:22-25 “If men fight and hit a pregnant woman and her child is born prematurely, but there is no serious injury, he will surely be punished in accordance with what the woman’s husband demands of him, and he will pay what the court decides. But if there is serious injury. then you will give a life for a life eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, bruise for bruise.

Lev 24:19-21 And if a man causes a disfigurement in his neighbour as he has done, so shall it be done to him Fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he has caused a disfigurement in a man. so shall it be done to him again. And he that kills an animal, he shall restore It and he that kills a man, he shall be put to death

At times, some people have reasonable excuses for abortion, such as complications during pregnancy, rape, etc.

Let’s continue thinking about these next week…
