In a world where many things are not guaranteed, it sounds like a very bright idea to know the future, even if it is just a glimpse; anything to keep hope alive. This situation gave birth to horoscopes, palm reading, tarot cards, numerology, astrology, pendulum reading, aleuromancy (e.g fortune cookies), utilization of objects (i.e crystal balls, tea leaves, salt, dice, water, etc.), talismans, consultation of mediums, psychics, etc.
The main question is: ARE THESE METHODS OF KNOWING THE FUTURE ACCEPTABLE?
Acts 16:16-18 One day as we were going to the place of prayer, we were met by a slave girl with a spirit of divination, who earned a large income for her masters by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and the rest of us, shouting, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who are proclaiming to you the way of salvation!” She continued this for many days. Eventually, Paul grew so aggravated that he turned and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ I command you to come out of her!” And the spirit left her at that very moment.

This girl with the spirit of divination was not lying, in fact, she was evangelizing. Paul could have overlooked it, after all, she is promoting the Kingdom. So why was she silenced? Because God forbids such!
Deuteronomy 18:10-13 There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord. And because of these abominations, the Lord your God is driving them out before you. You shall be blameless before the Lord your God…
Effects of Future Telling on your Future
God knows everything and loves concealing matters. But He is willing to reveal things especially if you call on Him.
Call to Me, and I will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know. -Jeremiah 33:3
Fortunately, God wants to be more to you than just a time travel machine. And it is in His mercy that He demands relationship because “to whom much is given, much is expected” (Luke 12:48). You can’t just know for ‘knowing’ sake. People have suffered for twenty-five years, thirty-two years, for a reason like this. As you are praying, recollect! Was there a time you went to a fortune teller?

That is all that was needed for the evil one! When you touch his things, long after you are gone, the stain won’t go off immediately. You’ve tried but it’s still there whether you see it or not. If you want to understand the concept of wickedness, remember this:
DON’T PLAY WITH THE DEVIL. HE IS NOT PLAYING WITH YOU AND LONG AFTER YOU FORGOT IT, HIS FILING CABINET WON’T.
He’ll record, he’ll track down your generations. If you have seen people delivered from darkness, you’ll be surprised. Babies that knew nothing, little children that were just three years old, ignorant acts of fun; You were not even in agreement when the househelp did what they did. If God helps you and you come to knowledge and you renounce it, watch the God of power come alive.
