The Holy Spirit has admonished different people to let go of the use of jewellery for reasons best known to Him. I’ve seen and heard of the Lord telling some people to abstain from jewellery and immediately, certain oppressive issues in their lives vanished completely. Some people got healed of facial palsy or other serious health issues. Though some were specific directives of the Holy Spirit in His dealings with some individuals in question, and should therefore not be used as a basis for concrete doctrine on a generic plane.
In seasons of repentance and consecration where you choose to engage and meet with God especially, it is wisest to avoid any form of self-exultation humbly. God does look, primarily at our inside, but our outside also matters. He is always a God that ‘looks at the heart;’ this quote is not from the New Covenant but from the Old (1 Samuel 16:7).
However, if you have no regard for His thoughts, you are not wise.
Not forgetting, different people have different standards of consecration required of them by the Lord. Samson was never to cut his hair (Judges 13:5), the Israelites were told not to eat unclean animals (Leviticus 11), the Priests were not to shave their heads, (Leviticus 21:5) etc.
What is the Solution?
As you focus on being clean on the inside, go to God in prayer and ask Him if He permits you to wear jewellery or not. And if He permits you to, don’t idolize it. Don’t get to the point where you can ‘never step out’ without a piece of jewellery on you.
