While in sin and wretchedness,
You, O Lord, passed by me.
Seeing that I needed love,
You spread out your wing-
Covering my nakedness,
Taking away my guilt,
my pain, my shame.
You swore an oath with me,
And I became yours.
You are my Husband,
And I, your bride.
Please truly be my only Lord,
The One to whom
I am sincerely loyal.
On the day of grace-five,
In the month of perfection-seven,
You stretched out your hands and said,
No more.
And finally, you sealed it
With the blood of your Son.
On the day of perfection-seven,
In the month of perfection,
You put a stop
To all the fuss.
Now I remain
In the harem of your chamber.
Nowhere would have been better,
That a foreigner like me
Be found among many
Who belonged here by Inheritance.
But look-your love has Transformed me,
Still insisting I be purged the more,
Until that day I may come to you:
Chosen and proven,
Tried and refined,
Remade and accepted
In the Beloved.
I feel whole already,
Though I know you are not done yet
With your cleansing.
Your love and richness
Bestowed on me
Intends to make me blameless.
I am more than happy to be here,
Knowing that others will laugh with me.
There is hope,
And I am grateful.
