DEFINITION OF PURE – KATHARÓS

Word Information

Word: Katharós

Definition

Strong’s Definition:
Clean, pure (free from the admixture or adhesion of anything that soils, adulterates, corrupts)

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not set his mind on what is false, and who has not sworn deceitfully… Such is the generation of those who seek Him, who seek the face of the God of Jacob. Psalms 24:3-4, 6

Whatever takes away our focus from loving God (and people) makes us impure. The process of getting rid of the impurities is sanctification, and it is done through God’s words.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. Ephesians 5:25-27
