I will wait for the God of my salvation
Yes, I will wait for Him in quiet expectation
I will wait for Him to come and save me
In the way of His judgements will I be
The desire of my soul will remain on Him
Though all around me looks bleak and dim
It is He I will seek with my spirit within
For He will not hide His ear from my breathing,
If I am humble, broken and contrite
For such a posture is always precious in His sight
I will wait for the God of my salvation
My time will not be given to dissipation
I will wait for Him by the way of His word
Though Jordan looks too great to ford
I will fix my eyes only on His pictures
I will give myself to knowing and doing the scriptures
Though all fails and my bones waste
Though there is little sweetness for my tongue to taste
Though people look at me and shake their head
I will wait on He who is the God of the living and not the dead
I will wait until He gives me instruction.
For His word is able to save from destruction
Whether I be in the East, West, North or South
I will move only at the word of His mouth
All around me seeks to bring in doubt
It seeks to have me ceaselessly chasing clout
I have seen the beauty of the living God
But the world markets its bubbly suds
It wants me to seek instead its fading beauty
How will I abandon eternal life for vanishing vanity?
I must daily come to this same conclusion
I must remain immovable from this position
The Lord alone is my reward and portion
I will seek Him without care or caution
This is the decision I have made
I will pay the price that must be paid
I will read, study, meditate on and do His word
I will also speak it; For I must be His witness in the world
Lord Jesus, Saviour, Friend, King; please help me
To keep my eyes ever only on thee
