Lord, may my fruits be true,
And may they come as and when due.
May I not have only branches and leaves,
When other trees readily give their fruit.
May I utilize Your rain and manure
To produce fruits that will endure.
May no evil fruit come from me,
For then, I would be an evil tree.
Lord, I neither want to be fruitless
Nor to bear fruits that are spoilt and useless.
Keep me planted by the Living stream,
And let Your light on me constantly beam.
Do not stop, Lord, till all of my delight
And fulfilment are found only in Your light.
May my leaves fall to the ground as manure,
For this, too, will help me to endure.
May I not only be good for shade,
Or last for as little as a decade,
But my fruit be good food for the starving.
And always have in me Your life everlasting.
