Exploring the Timeline of the Ages
Have you ever been fascinated by the remains of prehistoric creatures, or prehistoric art and artifacts? Do you ever imagine how life would have been if we had dinosaurs walking around? Have you ever wondered how long mankind has existed in this world? For how many ages have we been?
When you read the Bible, the chapters that contain genealogies can seem quite boring. But if you pay close attention to them, did you know that you can estimate how long it’s been?
From the Scriptures and the Jewish calendars, we can discover that there is approximately a 2000-year gap between Adam and Abraham, another 2000-year gap between Abraham and Jesus, and more than 1900 years between the Lord Jesus and today. That adds up to about 6000 years.
The Bible also mentions that a day with the Lord is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day. This understanding helps us perceive time in a different way.
