This day of our life brings you into the Number Forty
And as a date to mark it is truly one most worthy
For throughout scripture it often marks an end to worry
And many, after forty, seemed to advance in a hurry
After forty years Israel finally left a wilderness
Twice, on day forty, Moses received God’s commandments
After forty days Elijah heard the voice of the Lord
And after forty days – in power – was manifested The Word
The flood rains poured and windows opened just for this long
This time passed again after landing before a bird flew forth
Scouts searched a land promised this long, to tell the right from wrong
Even Nineveh receive in this time mercy they cannot be worth!
40 days after our Lord rises, He hangs around with His
Expounding yet upon the Kingdom that now approaches
No more than 40 stripes were permitted for a terrible crime
I dare declare this day for you more than the flip of a dime!
For all the good you have striven daily to achieve
For pursuit of truth and a passion to believe
For your focus and faith to only from God receive
I pray you enter beyond the veil and access grand reprieve
