Some say it is an attitude
That comes with the altitude
Where God’s goodness is palpable
And His mercy seems unstoppable.
However, what has God commanded?
From times past, what has He demanded?
Be it in the morning or evening
All the sacred times of giving
He demanded for sacrifices
From hearts and lips void of vices
Where all we offer is a sweet smelling fragrance
Fragrant spices mixed with frankincense
That whether we are in joy or pain
We will lift up our hands and proclaim
That He is good despite our situation
And teach others to do so from every nation
Come rain or come sunshine
We’ll give thanks when sad or fine
So yes! Gratitude is an attitude
But it should be given not just at an altitude
Whether in the valley or on the plain
It should be our desire to lift His name
And He’ll purge us of every complaint
As the effect of gratitude makes our problems faint
