Definition
Strong’s: Light, a source of light, radiance; luminousness.
1 John 1:5
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
John 12:46
I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness.
Like the sun (Malachi 4:2), He both is Light (John 1:4) and dwells in the light (1 Timothy 6:16); and if we walk in the light, which is His atmosphere, we have fellowship one with another. In I John 1:7 we see that, “if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship (koinonia) with one another…” Fellowship (koinonia) amongst brethren is the result of abiding in the Light; walking according to the new life in Christ Jesus. It means openness and honesty – speaking the truth to one another, because we are ‘members of one another’. Light doesn’t mask the truth.
Ephesians 4:25
Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.
Ephesians 5:8-13
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light.
