I’ve seen a mystery of which I was once told, before me unfold
My eyes had seen, my ears had heard, the power of idols, their birthing I feared
What is this idol? This meaningless thing I scold, yet it stands so bold
Within my mind it lays a bed and my heart with lies its speared
With images that don’t exist, my thoughts, a canvas for discontent
So I find that in my daily life,
I try to act out things that are impossible And with the same mind,
I get upset when reality does not act my intent
But truth be told, a part of me still hopes some fantasies are plausible
The secret I discovered is simple, but many often miss
I saw in truth, a practical application of idolatry’s devilish twist
It twists the plans of God until it fits our mindful bliss
And it seems to fit so perfectly upon His plan, like a watch unto a wrist
This wisdom I found, though not profound:
Ask to be free of idols and your mind be sound.
