THE SUBJECT OF DECEPTION

Author: Edikan Emeh
Date of Creation: 26th August 2025

Like a butterfly, her lashes flutter,
Out from her mouth come words that flatter,
She speaks boldly yet shyly,
Confidently yet coyly,
She makes her move—strategic, manipulative,
But she says she’s not a witch,
She sets her trap, and into which
He falls, a prey, into her ditch.

There he comes, looking cool when it’s not cold,
“What’s this heat I feel?” You ask,
It’s him, beyond the ‘cool’—trying to warm your heart.
Boom! The fire explodes.
But it’s too late,
He’s already wormed his way into your heart.

With words of Literature,
He opens you up to nature,
Fauna comes alive within you—butterflies feasting on your emotions,
He sets up a Pharmacy within you—drugs! You’re high!
Biology says it’s dopamine and oxytocin, But you say it’s Chemistry,
Well, I say you’ve just entered a Math,
And if you continue Further down that path,
Without submitting to the Almighty and His Formula,
You’d surely give Account,
Of the Commerce of your life,
To the Government of Heaven.
