When my reflection troubled the still waters’ peace
And guilt drew its sword to wage war upon me
You laid a table with weapons for the feast
and gathered the flock with your voice saying
“A warrior’s life is but a peace offering
So bleat and bleed let the battle cries ring
Stalk the enemy, stay hidden in the father’s will
Then rise, graze upon it
Feed, and go free the captives of sin
Only the slain walk this path to victory
For this is how we win
With a blood written testimony”
So here I am, still surrendering piece by peace
This waving white flag is slowly growing dim
Why does life come disguised in defeat
And death parade itself like an eternal mist?
In this weakness lives this fear that I will slip
Through the holes of those hands pierced for me
But it’s so bright under the shadow of Your wings
And I found sight when I stopped to see
I’ll put my life on the altar
That is the arm of the Good Shepherd
There’s Love in every drop that sinks into the dust
Poured out of a cup in the courtyard of the Lord
Through the consuming fire
He brings me into pastures greener
The joy in every burn points to a reward
Follow the aroma, it’s a map for the war
