DEFINITION OF TERMS: Believer
• A person who is saved (in the spirit) once he believes in his heart and confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord.
• A believer is justified. That means he has received Jesus’ imputed righteousness, resulting in blamelessness before God, and the record of our past sins are deleted.
DEFINITION OF TERMS: Disciple
• A disciple is one who follows. The Greek word translated “disciple” in our English Bible is “mathetes” which generally means “one who engages in learning through instruction from another – a pupil or apprentice.”.
• A disciple is a believer who has set himself apart to learn the ways of the Lord, with the intent of obeying Him.
DEFINITION OF TERMS: Servant
The Greek words translated “servant” or “slave” include:
• “leiturgos” (a public servant)
• “doulos” (a bond-slave without any rights of his/her own)
• “diakonos” (a waiter, an administrator, or one who performs any service)
• “misthotos” (a hired servant — a hireling)
THE HEART OF A SERVANT
• Not every person who pays lip-service to Jesus’ lordship over their lives will enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 7:21-22)
• The Lord’s true servants are devoted to His service and obey His word; He entrusts them with responsibilities or jobs to perform. (John 12:26)
DEFINITION OF TERMS: Friends
• The Greek word translated “friend” is “philos”, which means, ‘dear; a friend; [one of whom another is] fond.’
• A servant who is (proven) faithfully obedient to the Lord’s instructions eventually becomes His friend. (John 15:14-15)
DEFINITION OF TERMS: Son
• “He who overcomes will inherit all things, I will be his God, and he will be My son [huios]”. (Revelations 21:7)
• The sons of God are the overcomers who rise in the first resurrection and reign with Christ as kings and priests of God for a thousand years.
