Songs that Prophesy 2: Stories Behind Our Music
In the last episode, we looked at Music as a vehicle for the prophetic and shared the story of how the Lord released a river of prophetic worship and launched us as a church group, into a season of birthing new songs. Today, we shall tell you more stories of our songs that prophesy.
“Help Is Coming” was first received spontaneously on Sunday, October 13, 2023. It came right after we had sung “He Knows Your Name”, one of those songs that reminds us of how deeply attentive the Lord is to each of us.
Just the other week, I was speaking with my wife about some members of our congregation who seemed to be making fear-based decisions. They were unsure that things would work out—even though, time and again, that has been our testimony.
As we spoke, music played from my laptop in the background. In the middle of our conversation, I said, “Help is coming.” And at that exact moment, without my choosing it, the song ‘Help is Coming’ started playing. I hadn’t even realized it was on the playlist.
Many would have brushed it off as a beautiful coincidence. But over time, I have come to recognize these moments for what they truly are—God-moments. Little and large divine confirmations that provide for me and all who have eyes to see, double, triple, or even quadruple assurance when we need it the most.

The Prophetic Story Behind “We Bless You Nigeria”
About three weeks ago, the Lord started emphasising yet again the importance of blessing the nation and speaking good over her. In addition, our music team had listed a spontaneous song from 2021 for studio recording. Finally, just a few days ago, I realized June 12, our Democracy Day, was in about 3 days!
From September 2019 to October 2021 (minus six months of COVID-19) we had a season of all night meetings every Friday of the month similar to our practice between September 2016 and June 2017. One of the very last of those all-night gatherings was on the 1st of October 2021, Nigeria’s Independence Day. As with most of our meetings, I had no sermon prepared in advance but found myself speaking about the nation’s affairs repeatedly until the date was brought to my attention! The direction of the night had been ordered by the Spirit yet again!
Among other things, the Spirit of God highlighted the destructive power of constant cursing and negative speech, especially from Christians, over the land. Proverbs 11:11 tells us that “a city is exalted by the blessing of the upright, but torn down by the mouth of the wicked.” That night, we were moved to raise our voices in thanksgiving and intercession over Nigeria.
The Songs Birthed
From that prayer and worship session came WE BLESS YOU NIGERIA—a prophetic song of blessing and hope for our dear nation. Alongside it came STOP THE BLAME GAME and THERE’S POWER IN HIS HANDS—all songs gifted to us that same night. So, as the Scriptures instruct, please lift your hands and bless the land, praying for her peace and prosperity, rebuking and reversing the curses and negative declarations that have plagued her.
Though Nigeria faces real challenges daily, we must not speak from a place of fear or frustration, instead, speak with faith in the Lord’s word—that the blessings of the righteous uphold a nation. Say it boldly, say it continually: “God bless Nigeria!”
