I thirst for a spring that flows into eternity
But I find in this wilderness water with a bitter sting
Like death in the pot laced with wormwood’s kiss
Oh Shepherd of Israel, what shall we drink?
Lord, open my eyes to see men like trees Walking into a bitter sea
Lord, teach me how to climb up the family tree
So You could call me “brother” and not be ashamed of me
I thirst, for an ever-flowing stream of righteousness
But I was given vinegar to quench my thirst.
While my eyes filled up the bottle of tears
Out of Your heart will flow waters that live
I’ll open your eyes to see men like trees
And you will walk with Me into the bitter sea
I’ll carry you up My Family tree
And together create a world where We’ll truly be Free
