SONGS THAT PROPHESY 4: TESTIMONY BY SIS DARAMFON S.

This is my testimony about obeying the instruction to turn aside to God.

When Pastor instructed that we have times when we turn aside to God, I had obeyed the instruction and practiced it when it was first given. Back then, it was easier to enter God’s presence. I would just keep saying, “I don’t know what to say,” and sit there, worshipping. After some time, I would find myself crying. I don’t remember much after that.

The second time I tried to obey the instruction, it felt harder. I couldn’t even shed a tear. I was on my bed in my hostel room, trying to turn my mind away from everything, even in a common space. There were distractions at first, but I overcame them.

I started to wonder what was wrong—why I couldn’t cry, or enter His presence. Then, I started listening to our “Shining Jesus Medley,” and in it, Pastor began to pray for those with dried tear ducts.

Almost immediately, I felt something like a cold breeze wash over me. I got goosebumps on my skin. A few minutes later, I began to tear up. I felt a cool sensation on my skin and thought it would last for the duration of the song—about 30 minutes—but it didn’t stop there.

After the song ended, I stood up to dry my eyes and got back onto my bed. A few seconds later, the tears started again. I didn’t hold back—I let them flow and worshipped, thanking God for His beauty. This continued for almost an hour. At the end of that session, I just knew I was going to have a dream.

I woke up at 2 a.m. to read and hadn’t had the dream yet. But when I slept again—about 20 to 30 minutes before my hostel devotions—I did dream. I can’t remember the details, but I know it carried a strong sense of urgency to go out and evangelize…

TESTIMONY BY SIS JANELLE T.

I used to be addicted to YouTube. Each “session” of spending perhaps most of the night or the day on it would leave me anxious, restless, and fidgety, unable to concentrate on anything else or really do much of anything else. The urge to scroll was no respecter of my schedule—when it came, I must scroll, regardless of tests, exams, whatever.

I remember one day I had an exam the next day, and courtesy of this addiction, I had barely studied anything. I was close to tears, and even that morning, I found I couldn’t concentrate on studying the little I could. Walking to the study room in my hall, I had been playing the God’s Lighthouse song “Waves of the Spirit” earlier—or it had come up in my playlist. When I got to the study room, for whatever reason, I decided to play it again. And the first words were, “Help us pay attention and be still.” I was blown away. That was exactly what I had been praying for in my heart!

Somehow, I’d heard the song multiple times before (to be honest, I didn’t really like it), but these words had never registered in my mind. It was as if I was hearing them for the first time. God used that song to give me peace that day (it became a favourite thereafter). I was able to study, and I wrote the exam later and came out with a far better grade than I could have expected. I’m really grateful to God.
