Some thoughts on Contentment
That will impart no detriment
If in your heart you allow it ferment
It will reveal fully what was meant
The joy found in a thing owned
Is not when with much you’re crowned
But like a dog enjoys gnawing on a bone
When contented, we no longer sigh and groan
We were not to be out of shape bent
When we do not get all after which we went
But if you will pursue only that which is heaven-sent
Upon your peace and quiet, there will be no dent
Just enough funds to settle an outstanding rent
A needy person to whom some relief you lent
The company of one with whom time is well spent
The joy of pleasing God – this is contentment
