I must learn to give thanks in everything
Choosing to grumble instead is a great sin
Whether I face good times or bad
Whether I feel very happy or sad
I must deliberately give thanks to God
My offering of praise, before Him poured
No matter how sad a situation may seem
I am meant to still give thanks to Him
For if I look carefully I will surely see
Why grateful is what I must always be
I must learn to look away from my troubles
If I must be one who never grumbles
I must learn to instead look for reasons
To thank God in all of life’s seasons
I must seek the Lord to find sufficient grace
To become one who always gives Him praise
Lord, may thanksgiving always rise to You
Through the things I think, say, and do
May I learn to always give praises to Your name
And also learn to teach others to do the same
