"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does." 2 Corinthians 10:3
Strong’s Definition:
- to serve in a military campaign
- to execute the apostolate (with its arduous duties and functions)
- to contend with carnal inclinations
We’re in the middle of a war.
1 Pet 2:11 Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul.
How do we fight?
2 Cor 10:3-6 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete.
Righteousness is a weapon! (2 Cor 6:7). We fight this war by obeying the Lord.
1 Timothy 1:18
Timothy, my son, I give you this instruction in keeping with the prophecies once made about you, so that by following them you may fight the good fight.
2 Timothy 2:1-4
So then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs – he wants to please his commanding officer.
Are you a soldier in God’s army?
