You are toeing deadly paths, my dear
When obstinacy is your response to words so clear
You gnash your teeth in irritation
As your heart plots its rebellion
Disobedience begins in levels of near invisibility
From within, you want to combat good authority
Gradually, you reject paths that are godly
And ease into paths that are worldly
One thing will help you avoid this impending disaster
Yield to Christ Jesus as your one true Master
Obey the life-giving precepts of His word with no opposition
Receive godly rebukes with a cheerful disposition
In the face of life’s confusion, this I will say
Even when it is so constraining, still just obey.
