There was a whisper deep inside,
A silent yearning I couldn’t hide—
A hunger not for things or fame,
But for a fire, a holy flame.
I met a few with ragged clothes,
But in their eyes, the Spirit glows.
No wealth, no pride, yet they were filled—
With peace and truth, their hearts were stilled.
I saw in them what I had missed,
A soul that God Himself had kissed.
And in that moment, something stirred,
A longing deep, beyond mere words.
But I had not yet counted cost,
The things I’d gain, the things I’d lost.
To choose this path meant walking light,
And leaving friends who dimmed the light.
God’s name is Jealous—fierce, yet kind,
He seeks the whole, not just the mind.
He prunes, He cuts, He sets apart,
And carves His altar in the heart.
So I let go of empty ties,
Of laughter laced with quiet lies.
I walked away, though it was pain,
For what I’d lose is lesser gain.
Now here I stand, perhaps alone,
But held by hands that call me known.
No crowd, no noise, just sacred grace,
The warmth of God’s abiding face.
Though friends may fade and paths divide,
As long as I have Him—I’ll abide.
His love outweighs the things I miss,
In loss, I’ve found what fullness is.
So let them go, let seasons pass,
My roots are in the soil that lasts.
And if the world should turn away—
With God beside, I choose to stay.
