If there was only one lie Satan ever needed to tell you,
it would be this: “You’re in charge of your life.”
It started as far back as Eden, has made many
generations heathen, and sleeps within our very nature – hidden.
“I can handle it.”
“When I’m ready … “
“I know myself. I know what I can do.”
It sounds empowering, doesn’t it?
But pause for a moment-How has that been working for you?
Let’s face the fact: there’s always either of two
Superior Realities story.
You’re not as powerful as you think.
Your Will may move, riding on determination, but it
never moves alone, and your very Determination
always has a tutor.
Actually, there’s an intriguing conflict:
Of these Superior Forces (or rather, Persons), one
would rather you never even knew he was there.
He delights in the shadows. He savours darkness. He
manipulates from behind the curtain, whispering,
“You’ve got this.”
All the while, he’s tightening his hold. Never never
happier than when you believe it’s all about you. In
even more louder tones, he’s screamed
being: “DO WHAT THOU WILT!”
Until … You are truly, totally lost! Living for you as he
made you think, but without the Purpose, Peace and
Power that should have been the real You.
Then there’s the Other – oh, the Other!
He longs to reveal Himself. For His nature is Light, and
in Him there is no darkness at all.
Whether through the cuddles of His loving whispers,
the groans of a longing Father’s grief, or the blows of
His intimate discipline, there’s always been one
message from the very beginning:
“I’m here. I’ve got you. Drop those burdens and carry
Mine. You only ever need to rest in My goodwill.”
Yet … Following Him means you will be lost, still. Dare I
even say, you will be dead! But the all you’ve got to
lose has always been the version of you that was
never meant to be, and rise to the Purpose, Peace and
Power that was meant to be You and Yours!
An amazing irony it may seem, but if there’s One who
can be shrouded in darkness and at the same time
dwell in unapproachable light, for which the means
and manner to approach has been made, why
shouldn’t you be willing to give up You for Him?
The best part of it? He is not just a Superior Force, HE
IS THE SUPREME BEING!
Am I saying you have no say in your destiny? Dare I
suggest that you should abandon the place of your
responsibility? Far be it from me!
You make choices, though truthfully it is not a
privilege available at all times.
But your choices are only as powerful as the
AUTHORITY to which they bow.
You know why? It’s simple (or maybe not): Every
decision-great or small-leans toward one of two
realities: LIGHT or DARKNESS. And your life too,
whether you realize it or not, is being stirred, shaped,
and steered by the consequences of that ALIGNMENT.
So, in the grand scheme of things,
there’s You, Light, and Darkness.
And between the three,
you are the least significant.
Not totally powerless-But dependent.
Choose wisely.
