About 15 years ago, an orthodox Hindu woman from South Tamil Nadu wrote me testifying of a most remarkable miracle through our television broadcast. She grew up in a very orthodox Hindu home and village where none of them had even heard of the name Jesus, let alone seen a Bible or known what a “church” is. She got married and had been childless for eight years. All manner of medical treatment proved futile. None of the Hindu gods were able to help the couple.
The Breaking Point
One Sunday, after visiting yet another fertility specialist, her husband announced to her that he wanted to annul their marriage since she was incapable of bearing a child and told her to go back to her maternal home. Upon saying this, he left the house. This young woman was crushed and dejected. Not knowing what to do, she sat on the sofa and began to sob heavily. From morning to evening she sat on the sofa, tears streaming down her face, unable to do anything but cry.
The Divine Prompting
At about 7:30 PM, she had a fleeting thought to turn on the television. She brushed the thought away as she was in no mood for entertainment. Then, at 7:45 PM, again the thought came to her to turn on the TV. Again, she ignored it. Then again, at 8:05 PM, it came, but this time stronger—as if commanding her to turn on the TV. Not wanting to resist any longer, she turned on the TV only to see some usual boring soap-opera. She took the remote control in her hand and started flipping channels. As she came upon the channel where our evangelistic program, Healing Love, was playing on the air, she was captivated as she looked at me.
The Power of Prayer
She listened to the message which was comforting and soothing to her broken heart. She later testified that during the time of prayer it seemed as though I looked directly at her as I prayed, “Lord, there is a dear woman who is watching this program right now and she has been childless for eight years. Please bless her and lay your hands upon her womb right now.” At that moment she felt a power like lightning hit her womb. She was shocked at what had just happened. Later, when her husband returned home, she recounted to him the whole story.
The Miracle
They decided to wait a week and then went to see the same fertility specialist. Upon reexamining the woman, the doctor was shocked to find that her defective womb and fallopian tubes had been made new and she was pregnant. As a result of this miracle, the woman accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior.
The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth.
