Definition
A sacrifice, an offering.
The word thusia literally refers to various forms of blood/animal sacrifices (which are fulfilled in Jesus Christ).
Example
Therefore, as He was coming into the world, He said: You did not want sacrifice and offering, but You prepared a body for Me. Hebrews 10:5
It means ‘an offering’, typically an offering the Lord accepts because it is offered on His terms.
Living Sacrifice
Under the New Covenant, we are to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, by setting ourselves apart to please Him.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Romans 12:1
