What does God expect of the Christian Politician?
The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spoke to me, “He that rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.” 2 Samuel 23:3
It is an abomination for kings to commit wickedness, For a throne is established by righteousness. Proverbs 16:12
Daniel advised King Nebuchadnezzar, “Therefore, O king, may my advice be pleasing to you. Break away from your sins by doing what is right, and from your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps your prosperity will be prolonged.” Daniel 4:27 (NET)
Psalms 82:2-4 How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. Rescue the weak and needy; Save them from the hand of the wicked.

Different Standards of Judgment
Anyone called to governance must govern with the fear of God. God requires all leaders to do justice and rule with fairness but He will hold to a higher standard, the one who claims to serve God, not just in the natural realm but also from the spirit.
The principle is, But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. Luke 12:48
And if you have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own? Luke 16:12
The unsaved man knows little, and the saved one knows much more. We were called to please God with our lives, not to run for political positions (Revelation 4:11). This means that if God has called you to be in a political office, you must please God by obeying His words.
